In terms of education, I received my Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology from Rhodes College in Memphis, Tennessee. I earned a master’s and doctorate in Clinical Psychology from Regent University in Virginia Beach, Virginia, where I specialized in marriage and family work and completed my dissertation on Spirituality, Sexual Intimacy, and Marital Satisfaction in Mixed Orientation Marriages.

Prior to graduate school (after my undergraduate work and in response to the September 11 terrorist attacks), I joined the United States Army as a mental health specialist, working with active-duty soldiers to address their mental health needs. I completed my internship in Clinical Psychology at the Dayton VA Medical Center. In this position, I focused on general mental health, PTSD, and substance abuse within the veteran population.  I also worked with the sexual health coordinator at the VA to address veterans' sexual concerns. I'm also a part of Star Behavioral Health Providers to increase my exposure to and improve my work with veteran and military populations.

After my undergraduate work, I became interested in marriage education and pursued some training in that field. Following my military service, I became heavily involved with the MMATE Center’s Hope-Focused couples’ therapy project. This remains my primary orientation toward couples’ therapy, although I am also trained in Cognitive Behavioral Couples' Therapy, Prepare/Enrich couples' therapy, and have some experience in Couples' Therapy for PTSD. I also worked at a residential treatment facility for children working heavily with family and parenting during my tenure. In addition, I was active with the Institute for Study of Sexual Identity working with individuals with sexual identity and gender identity concerns.

I completed my postdoctoral training program in clinical psychology at Portage Path Behavioral Health in Akron, Ohio, where I was supervised in both Psychology and Marriage and Family Therapy. In this position, I worked with the more severely mentally ill, including individuals with personality disorders, bipolar disorder, and dissociative identity disorder.

I'm currently a member of the Ohio Psychological Association and the American Association of Marriage and Family Therapy. I am currently available for supervision of both psychologists and Marriage and Family Therapists in the state of Ohio.

Personally, I am a wife to Eric and mother of three  young children. I enjoy music, the outdoors, and good literature.
